We had a truly enriching experience with Cornelia Elbrecht presenting Body Mapping with Guided Drawing: A Sensorimotor Art Therapy Approach. Cornelia shared about her pioneering background in art therapy and expressive arts, along with her extensive training in the body. She shared about the development of working bilaterally with archetypal shapes and the benefits that she found with many clients, especially those with trauma. We dove right into experiencing the process– beginning on large sheets of paper! We learned and practiced different shapes– and then self-guided choosing our own shapes and colors to explore. The experiential exercises were interspersed with rich sharing, along with time for questions. Cornelia shared an informative PowerPoint highlighting key theoretical components, methods, and application.
A couple highlights from participants:
"You have inspired me to continue learning and growing as an expressive arts therapy teacher."
What did you enjoy most? "The experiential exercises that widen my understanding of the bilateral drawing concepts and the execution"
