Continuing Education
Most programs are eligible for Continuing Education Credit Hours
The Focusing and Expressive Arts Institute offers quality programs in both Live and Home Study formats who wish to enhance their practice. Each program registration page contains the continuing education approval information. Approval varies as it is granted per program. Programs that do not qualify are clearly identified.
Live: Many of our Live online programs are interactive and eligible for Continuing Education Credit Hours. In order to complete and receive CE hours for a Live online program, attendees must remain for the entire duration of each event and complete the course evaluation following it. A link to the course evaluation will be shared post-event via email to those that register for CEs. Once the course evaluation is completed, we will generate and issue certificates via email within a timely manner.
Home Study: To receive Continuing Education Credit Hours from a qualifying online self-study online program, registrants must: complete all of the online course materials, pass a learning assessment, and submit a course evaluation. Upon successful completion, certificates are generated and made available through the FOAT Online School.
Please ensure to check with your individual state boards/regulatory body to verify Continuing Education Credit Hours requirements and if the program you are planning to take qualifies. Licensing Boards change regulations often and while we attempt to stay abreast of their most recent changes, if you have questions or concerns about a specific program meeting your specific board’s approval, we recommend you contact your board directly to obtain a ruling.
Accommodations
We seek to provide equal access to our workshops and training. If you are in need of any kind of accommodation to attend, please reach out to us so we can work with you to set up any accommodations needed. Contact admin@focusingarts.com for requests.
National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC)
Focusing and Expressive Arts Institute has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7596. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Focusing and Expressive Arts Institute is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB)
The ATCB recognizes a variety of Continuing Education Credit (CEC) activities, including those in the areas of professional and mental health counseling. These activities are clearly outlined in their recertification standards provided to all ATR-BCs in their recertification year and on their website. Of the 100 recertification credits needed, a minimum of 6 must be earned in the area of ethics each cycle. If you are licensed as an art therapist in your state, please check with your state board to verify what types of CEC activities are acceptable for license renewal.
California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS)
For California Marriage and Family Therapists, Social Workers, Educational Psychologists, and Professional Counselors: As of July 1, 2015, the California BBS amended its regulations for continuing education providers to include NBCC as a "board-recognized approval agency." If you are a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Social Worker, Educational Psychologist, or Professional Counselor in California, NBCC Approved Continuing Education Providers are recognized by the BBS to fulfill continuing education requirements. In addition, required CE Hours can be accumulated entirely through self-study and distance learning.
