NorCATA Conference

It was inspiring to present "Focusing-Oriented Art Therapy and Mindfulness" as a workshop to the Northern California Art Therapy Association's Conference in Berkeley, CA on September 18, 2016... and also participate in a book signing! The workshop room was filled with a delightful energy of professionals and students eager to learn about FOAT® and how it is a mindfulness-based approach. In addition to the fundamental theory and methods of FOAT®, Dr. Laury Rappaport introduced a Theme-Based FOAT® approach in which participants learned how to combine mindfulness practices (mindful breathing and Pebble Meditation based on the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh) ) with Focusing-Oriented Art Therapy.

Comments from the participants included... "AMAZING, loved all the experientials and listening to her research and seeing her work." "Excellent and powerful. I bought two of Rappaport's books and hopefully will continue to connect and learn through future workshops." "Very well done. Explained in easy to understand manner with good examples and art experience."
