LAURY RAPPPAPORT, Ph.D. 
Laury Rappaport, Ph.D., ATR-BC is currently an Associate Professor in the Art Therapy Psychology Department at Notre Dame de Namur University located south of San Francisco, CA. Laury has been on the faculty of Lesley University in Cambridge, MA for over twenty-five years, and has taught at Cambridge College, California Institute of Integral Studies, Wheelock College, Regis College, SUNY at Buffalo, and The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. Additionally, Laury was the Academic Coordinator of Lesley University’s International Expressive Arts Therapies programs where she oversaw the administration of the program, trained and mentored international faculty, designed and implemented courses, and built an effective teaching team.
Laury’s clinical work includes thirty years of experience in a variety of settings, including inpatient, outpatient, community mental health, day treatment, private practice, and wellness centers. Specialty populations include working with clients and families with life-threatening illness and health related issues. Laury is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Family Therapist is Massachusetts, a Board Certified Art Therapist with the American Art Therapy Association, and a Certifying Coordinator and Focusing-Oriented Therapist with The Focusing Institute. She has pioneered the creation of Focusing-Oriented Art Therapy and Focusing-Oriented Expressive Arts Therapy, and is the author of Focusing-Oriented Art Therapy: Accessing the Body's Wisdom and Creative Intelligence, published by Jessica Kingsley, 2008.
